At your first appointment, I will ask you to fill out an intake form, which will alert me to any special concerns or medical conditions that you may have. If you wish, you can download this form below so you can fill it out ahead of time.
It is best to be well hydrated the day of your appointment. I will probably offer you water when you arrive, whether you need it or not!
When you arrive, you will have a chance to ask questions and tell me what you want from your session today. You are encouraged to speak to me about your preferences regarding pressure, or areas to which you would like me to pay special attention. These can change from session to session.
You should always ask questions about anything you do not understand. Draping is always used, without exception. You will never be asked to remove more clothing than you are comfortable with. Some techniques, such as shiatsu, are done with the client fully clothed.
To get the most out of your session, I encourage you to pay attention to your breath. The benefits of massage are amplified with conscious breathing.
At the end of the session, we can talk about how you are feeling, handle payment, and schedule future appointments. It is very important to drink extra water after a massage to assist your body in flushing out whatever may have been released from your tissues.
If you begin to feel nausea or headache, you may simply need to drink more water. Drink more than you think you need as a general rule.
